There’s no ‘right’ way to start getting support, and it doesn’t matter what order you try things in. Different support options work for different people at different times.

Your GP:

If you’re not in danger, making an appointment to see your GP is a great first step to recovery. Your GP can diagnose your condition and help you decide what your next step should be. They can refer you to counselling services or other talking therapies, prescribe medication, or both depending on your individual needs. NHS 111:

NHS 111 can help if you need advice urgently about a mental health issue - or if you’re worried about your own or someone else’s safety.
